“Rīgas satiksme”: no plans of raising tariffs at municipal parking lots

“Rīgas satiksme” informs that this year it does not plan any raise of and will not raise tariffs on services of “Rīgas satiksme”-managed parking lots located along streets.

The possibility of raising tariffs in parking lots located along streets which was reported by an LTV programme was mentioned as a tool that may be used to regulate the number of cars in Riga centre and to motivate drivers to use public transport, which would relieve the city centre from cars. Neither “Rīgas satiksme”, nor Riga City Council consider it necessary to change tariffs at municipal parking lots and to raise tariffs on parking services.

On the contrary, from July 1, 2016, the tariff on parking services in zones B, C and D will be cut by 20% for holders of “Riga resident’s card”.

Any person who has declared his/her residence or owns any real estate in Riga can apply for     "Riga resident’s card" in a customer service centre of "Rīgas satiksme". To receive the card, one can visit to any of "Rīgas satiksme" customer service centres, carrying an identity document with him/her. Information about the declared place of residence is available to the customer service centre staff, but that about real estate ownership shall be confirmed by a certificate.

For the first time, "Riga resident’s card" will be issued free of charge, but, if lost, a duplicate will cost EUR 2.85. The card is valid for 10 years.

"Riga resident’s card" can be also applied for electronically on "Rīgas satiksme" webpage at  www.rigassatiksme.lv
